What modules are offered in the epilepsy awareness training course?

The training material is presented over three separate modules, covering  key aspects of diabetes awareness.  The modules are:

• Module 1:Diabetes – What is Epilepsy?
  This module provides an overview of the course and answers the question – what is epilepsy?  The module will also cover the common factors that could trigger a seizure.
• Module 2: Types of Seizures
  This module covers the different types of seizures that can occur.  These are grouped into 3 categories depending on the part of the brain that id affected and its function.  These categories are:

• • Simple Focal Seizure
  • Complex Focal Seizure
  • Generalised Seizure

• Module 3: What to Do
  This final module looks at what to do if someone has a seizure.  The four main complications that will be covered are:

Who needs to go through this training?

This awareness training has been written for those primarily working within  Health and Social Care , however as a first aider this course provides excellent information on epilepsy which can be used as part of a first aider’s awareness training portfolio. This training will also benefit those who have an interest in the subject or just want to expand their knowledge or understand what to do if they see someone having a seizure.
