Find out exactly what asbestos is and how our asbestos awareness course can help your employees avoid direct contact with it
Asbestos is a dangerous material that can be found in many buildings throughout the UK. It’s still responsible for many deaths each year because of related illnesses such as asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma.
Despite this danger, asbestos itself is only a significant hazard if you’re going to be actively handling it, or working in a building where asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) are disturbed and asbestos fibres become airborne.

About our online asbestos awareness course
It’s a legal requirement that any worker who may come into contact with asbestos containing materials is provided with sufficient information, instruction and training in order to prevent exposure. Our asbestos awareness course satisfies the requirements of awareness training for employees and will ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Please note: this asbestos awareness category A course is ONLY for those workers who may come into contact with asbestos containing material (ACMs) during their everyday work activities (they do not work with ACMs) or those who are responsible for or supervise how the work is carried out.
There are two other types of asbestos training which are outside the scope of this training and they are listed below:
Type B – Training for non-licensable work which would include persons who carry out small works on asbestos containing materials. This also includes notifiable non-licensed work (NNLW)
Type C – Training for asbestos work that does require a licence from the HSE.
Note. The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 define the types of work which fall into the categories of non-licensable, NNLW and licensable. Ensure that you undergo the correct training.
Consult the HSE’s Asbestos Essential website for further information.
